Vietjet has officially announced its first-ever direct route between Ho Chi Minh City and Auckland, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam–New Zealand relations. This historic launch coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations and the recent elevation of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Set to commence this September, the new service will operate four round-trip flights per week, utilizing Vietjet’s modern fleet to provide passengers with a seamless and efficient travel experience.
The announcement was made in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, visiting New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and key business leaders from both countries. Prime Minister Luxon hailed the new route as a crucial step in strengthening air connectivity, fostering deeper people-to-people exchanges, and boosting cooperation in tourism, trade, and education.
A Vietjet representative emphasized that this strategic expansion will not only enhance travel convenience but also stimulate investment and cultural exchange while integrating New Zealand into Vietjet’s extensive flight network across Asia and beyond.
Passengers will enjoy an affordable, time-efficient journey with multiple fare options and a premium in-flight dining experience, featuring a diverse selection of Vietnamese and international cuisine.
Auckland, famed for its stunning coastal landscapes and vibrant urban life, serves as the gateway to New Zealand’s most iconic destinations. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s dynamic economic and cultural hub, welcomes travelers with its rich history, bustling atmosphere, and world-renowned culinary scene.
This direct air link is expected to unlock new opportunities for tourism, business, and education, further strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and New Zealand in the years to come.
